200名青年科學家參加者的甄選將由一組兩級制的國際專業科學總評審團負責。總評審團的首層是由天文學、生命科學與醫學和數學科學這三個學科的專家組成的科學評審委員會，每個申請將由至少兩位科學評審委員會的成員進行評分。及後，科學評審大會（即總評審團的第二層）將選出200名青年科學家參加桂冠論壇。
